About me

I never know when I sit down what I a going to do.  Black and white?  Color?  Style?  Subject?  Is it the time of day, my mood, the lighting?

Sometimes it's the pen I use that determines the style, the final product.  I love the spontaneity of it...I need the spontaneity of it.  I need to not know what I'm going to do when I sit down.

All the work you see is done with pen and ink, copic marker, sometimes a little water or spit.  Most works are on smooth bristol board.

I got back to my art later in life.  I'd like to talk fancy about my art education, the MFA I have, where I studied, and whom I studied with...i have no formal art education, just a natural gift and a life spent drawing people, animals, buildings, things, superheroes.... I did spend a year in graphic design, but realized something just wasn't right.  Then I made my way throught the land of business after I got my Masters in Business - research and statistics, to be exact...  A natural progression, right?

Who the hell knows....

But I came back to what I was meant to be about 6 years ago, literally back to the drawing table, drawing, attempting, experimenting, failing, trying, succeeding, growing...never really failing...you only grow by trial and error.

Some have called some of my style of work as controlled randomness, some of the black and white work I do.  Some of my work may be perceived as more "cartoony".  Some have said my work has a social aspect to it.  I agree.  I like to think my work and pictures tell a story, or maybe a commentary on life, people, who we are, this nutty world we live in.  Or, at the very least captures real humans, doing real things, at real times, in real situations....

I hope you like something here.  Even if you don't buy, it's nice to know someone appreciates what I do...and if you do, let me know!

Shane
